Hi,

I am migrating Project Server 2007 to Project Server 2013. An Intermediate migration from PS 2007 to PS 2010 was completed successfully.

My PS 2007 had a report viewer webpart. But after migrating to PS 2010, i removed the report viewer webpart. Because i will use brand new reporting dashboards for PS 2013.

While migrating PS 2010 to PS 2013, I am not able to upgrade PWA Instance and it gets failed with some error. I don't have any clue what is this error. Please help me to resolve this error.

Below is the Powershell error while upgrading SPPWA Instance..

Cannot save changes in schedule in PWA.

Hi Folks,

Please help to resolve...

I have Project Server 2010 with about 60 projects. It was working correctly for about year.

But some time ago, users get this message when trying to edit schedule via browser (IE11).

"This edit is unsupported in Project Web App. If you wish to make this change, open your project using Project Professional."

Previously, users can edit the schedule. This error occurs also on just created projects, with empty schedule.

Why may occur such a problem?

Hi,

We are using Project Server 2013 (ONLINE), and we would like to know if we sync with Active Directory can we preserve (i.e., prevent AD from over writing the resources' GROUP field?  If so, is there a reference on how to do this?

Thanks in advance,

Hello,

There was some trouble with the download of the free 60 day trial of Microsoft Project Professional.  Started with  64 bit but the computer needed 32 bit.   To activate the product it will not accept my Microsoft account sign in.  Secondly, the key I have written down doesn't have enough characters.  Please let me know where I can find the key or how to activate the product.  I was not emailed one.  Please respond via email at jburns@dyerpart.com.

Thank you,

Hi,

i am trying to call Project server Odata from a SharePoint workflow running on a custom list in the same site (PWA). If i run the query in the browser i can get the expected value. However when i run it in SharePoint workflow i get the following output:

responseStatusCode :  "Forbiden"

ReponseContent:

{"error":{"code":"20010, Microsoft.ProjectServer.PJClientCallableException","message":{"lang":"en-US","value":"GeneralSecurityAccessDenied"}}}

Looking at the ULS i could see:

Hi all,

I faced with such issue: I'be edit schedule via MS Project 2010, and published it to server (2010), then i closed it. MS Project asked if i want to check in project. I've replyed yes.

After that, on http://server/pwa/MyJobs.aspx  i see this for a long time:

12/01/2015 11:35WorksiteProject CheckinWaiting To Be Processed0%3Project
12/01/2015 11:34WorksiteProject Site CreateProcessing0%1Project
12/01/2015 11:34WorksiteReporting (Project Publish)Waiting To Be Processed0%4Project

Could you please advise how to resolve it?

Project Server 2013: Set-SPProjectPermissionMode error

$

Hi,

In our environment, we need to use Project Server permission mode to fine tune permissions. According to documents, we need to run the Set-SPProjectPermissionMode command. However, when I ran it, I got the following error:

Set-SPProjectPermissionMode : There is a version mismatch between the Web server and the content databases, and connections to the data have been blocked to avoid data loss. This can happen when a service pack is not completely installed. Notify your server administrators so that they can
upgrade the Web server and the databases to the same version. For more information about installing service packs and updates, see the Microsoft Web site (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?LinkID=177163).

The linked document does not offer any help. It talks about changes in Project Server 2010, while we're configuring permission mode in Project Server 2013.

Thanks for any information.

By the way, we've installed both SharePoint 2013 SP1 and Project Server 2013 SP1 (currently only one server in the farm). In Central Admin's Upgrade and Migration section, neither the content database nor the service packs (or any other updates) report any errors.

Reporting (WSS Sync) failed or what is forbidden to do with the project workspace?

Dear all,

I would like to understand why errors like  "Reporting (WSS Sync) failed" appears on my farm. And what i should do in future to prevent this errors.

Some days ago i was informed about thenextsuch error from our user. This error contained next information in queue:

 <!-- [if gte mso 10]> <mce:style>

General

  • Reporting Wss list sync failed:
    • ReportingWssSyncListFailed(24018) - 1100. Details: id='24018' name='ReportingWssSyncListFailed' uid='dad18edf-bbd7-48d9-bb38-5d8074bc8549' SPListType='131594eb-c4d1-4bf5-8378-0d0fc5debd94' Error='1100'.

SynchronizationType='Issues'' Error='RDS failed while trying to sync one or more SP lists. The RDS queue message will be retried.'.
  • Reporting ProjectWorkspaceInternalHRef field sync failed:

So i can see 5 types of errors. All of them except last related toReporting Data Service (RDS):

Error ID: 24018 -  Reporting Wss list sync failed
     Error ID: 24019
- Reporting transfer WSS links failed
     Error ID: 24016
- ReportingWSSSyncMessageFailed
     Error ID: 24021
- ReportingWssSyncHRefFailed

From information of this error i find related project - His guid represented asSPListType='131594eb-c4d1-4bf5-8378-0d0fc5debd94' andProjectUID='131594eb-c4d1-4bf5-8378-0d0fc5debd94'.  Name of list -Error='1100' andSynchronizationType='Issues' called to Issue project list on workspace that related to this project.

I remember that i could do 3 changes to this Issue list:

   1. I deleted field from Issue list of this project workspace named "Links" with type "Project link".

   2. Changed standard field named "Assigned to" by enabled "Allow multiple selections" feature.

   3. Added custom fields with named "Discussion" and changed him by enabled "Append changes to existing text" for save history.

So after i temporary disabled"Allow multiple selections" feature i increased error message from 5 errors to 2:

And this errors are gone.

Error ID: 24019- Reporting transfer WSS links failed
     Error ID: 24016
- ReportingWSSSyncMessageFailed

But when i tried to add "Link" field to Issue list i do not find him from list of existing site or site collection fields. Another reason why i deleted this field before - that this field was call unknown error when member open issue that has been assigned to him.

So i need help.

  1. What should i do to finally close this issue?

  2. What is forbidden to do with standard items and lists (what items or list are called as standards?) of project workspaces?

  3. If some changes of standard lists are forbidden what users should do for get all SharePoint functionality on their Project sites(for example, multiple value of Assign To field)?

Thanks in advance for any detailed answer for my question.

No permissions to read Project Server enterprise global file. The Project Server enterprise global could not be accessed. Project Server 2010

Received "No permissions to read Project Server enterprise global file. The Project Server enterprise global could not be accessed".

Microsoft Updates ran on the SharePoint/Project Server overnight and I am now unable to get in. Uninstalled all updates that I could, but still cannot get in.

Currently SharePoint Server is 14.0.7015 and SharePoint Server is 14.0.4763. I think they were on the same version before the updates, but am not sure. Also, not sure if this has anything to do with the problem.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

project server 2010: job stuck in queue with state Waiting to be Processed (Sleeping)

Hi,

I have a job in the queue that is stuck. The job type is "TimeSheet Update Resource" and the job state is "Waiting to be processed (Sleeping)". This is happening with only one user. Other users can edit, save, and submit timesheets normally as it appears. Can't figure out the problem! I tried restarting the queue and timer service with no success. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks,
George

The project cannot be checked out because the server is in read-only mode.

Receiving the message "The project cannot be checked out because the server is in read-only mode." when a project manager is trying to access a project. He is a backup PM, and I'm wondering if that's why he is getting the message (since he is not the Owner or Status Manager of the project he is trying to access). We are using SharePoint permissions in Project Server 2013.

A web part to be hosted in PWA to display projects and project related data using CSOM

$

Hi,

I am currently in the process of deploying an On-Premise Project Server 2013 instance.

Although everything out of the box is fine, we have a requirement of displaying certain pieces of information about the published projects in a summarized manner for Project Managers and Portfolio Managers/Viewers.

For Example, when a user (Proj Mgr, or Portfolio Mgr) logs in they are able to see a list of projects as per their user level in theProject Center web part. In addition to the Project Center, We need to show the following information based on the projects that the user can access:

A tabular view displaying values of various custom enterprise fields associated to each of project (e.g. expected completion date, expected start date, actual start date, actual completion date etc.)

In order to achieve this, we are trying to use the Project Server 2013 CSOM in a web part to retrieve the project related information, however, we are unable to even get the ProjectContext initialized. Following is the code from the Visual Web Part solution created using Visual Studio 2013: (I would appreciate help using the c# CSOM as I don't want to use the Javascript Object model JSOM)

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { this.lblOutput.Text = "No Data, No Value"; try { string pwaPath = "http://ps2013instance/pwa"; projContext = new ProjectContext(pwaPath); projContext.Credentials = CredentialCache.DefaultNetworkCredentials;

// Get the list of published projects in Project Web App. projContext.Load(projContext.Projects); projContext.ExecuteQuery(); StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); //Prepare output string using the project listing foreach (PublishedProject pubProj in projSvr.Projects) { sb.Append("<br>" + pubProj.Id.ToString() + " : " + pubProj.Name + " : " + pubProj.CreatedDate.ToString()); } lblOutput.Text = sb.ToString(); } catch (Exception ex) { lblOutput.Text = ex.Message + ex.StackTrace; } }

The output of the web part code above is as follows:

Access denied. You do not have permission to perform this action or access this resource. at Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.ClientRequest.ProcessResponseStream(Stream responseStream) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.ClientRequest.ProcessResponse() at WPProjectList_CS.VisualWebPart1.VisualWebPart1UserControl.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e)

I would really like some help in this regard. I have spent weeks researching on Google however, there is no clarity on how to use the CSOM withing a web part hosted on the PWA. The examples are all given for using C# CSOM from console applications and none of them are for webparts hosted within PWA

(I would appreciate help using the c# CSOM as I don't want to use the Javascript Object model JSOM)

Thanks,

Ritzzz.

Remove Task From TImesheets Project Server 2010

$

Greetings,

Trying to determine the best way my resources can remove tasks from their PWA timesheets.   I thought that by setting remaining work to zero - after approval, the tasks would drop off.   I had them try this and this does not seem to be the case.   The "Remove Task" button is grayed out for all tasks (except Administrative tasks).  I believe this is because we have actual hours protected (though I am not sure).   All that said, what is the best way resources can remove completed tasks from their timesheets?

Does remaining work for a task need to be set to zero for ALL resources in order for a task to drop off a timesheet?

Thank you!

Randy K.

Project Server 2007. Owner doesn't see sertain projects

$

Hello experts :),

I have a old Project Server 2007 environment. Now one of my project managers tells me she cannot see all projects she is the owner of on the Project Center page.

She does see the projects in MS Project Professional 2007 and is able to publish them to the server.

She also has correct Group and Category permissions (I even temporarily made her a admin to check if that helped).

I checked to see if there were filters active on the project center view, and even created a new view, both without results.

I created a new project, with the same Project field values as one of the missing projects, published that project and it did show up on the list.

Now I ask you, what am I missing? I'm a bit rusty on the 2007 server administration but I do believe I have tackled every aspect of the server...

Kind regards,

Erik van Hurck
