PS2013 - Error "You cannot edit the team at this time." post upgrade from PS2010.

Post upgrade from PS2010 to PS2013, Project Owners are running into the following error when using Project Pro 2013 connected to Project Server 2013 and trying to add resources to a schedule. The Project Owner clicks on Build Team and received the error

          Microsoft Project

          An Error Occurred

          You cannot edit the team at this time. Verify that Project is still connected to the server and try again.

Checked and the Project Owner shows connected. Other functionality is working. Tried myself and am showing connected to Project Server and get the same error when clicking on Build Team. All other editing functionality works. I tried on several schedules and all have the same result.  I've also tried this using my account (admin) and the farm administrator account and same problem. Every time you click on Build Team, this error pops up and can't get to the resource pool.

I then tried adding resources with Build Team in PWA and it works there fine with no problem and no error. Seems to be just a problem with Project Professional.This is the first time I've ever seen an error like this. I've been combing the web and forums and cannot find anything on this. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Please help. Thanks.

Howcan I fix the Task Name field on the workflow task form

We have a workflow task form that gets created when we submit a project ideation to be converted to a project. However, when I open the form the Task Name field seems to be pulling the wrong field and I cannot find a way to fix this. Any suggestions?

TFS 2013 Integration with Project Server 2013 - TF244069 + TF400958 Errors when attempting to register collection

Hi,  I am attempting to register a TFS collection with Project Server 2013.  When I run the tfsadmin command to register the collection, I get the following error output:

TF244069: An error occurred while checking the provisioning status of the report
ing database schema for a PWA instance.
Project Server returned the following error: "TF400958: The Project Server servi
ce account does not have sufficient permissions to call the Project Server Web s
ervices. Contact your Project Server administrator to verify that the Project Se
rver service account has the required permissions."

I have checked database security, as well as IIS app security, and from the best of my knowledge, the Project Server service account has the correct access to perform the call to the web service.  I have attempted searching for the second error code to no avail.  Any ideas on how to rectify this would be greatly appreciated.  Regards,  Derek

Project Server 2013 - Project Site Permission

Hi All,

Whenever new enterprise project is created, the project site (workspace) is created without permission inheritance (the permission is broken and site has the unique permission). How to set that when the project is created the project site need to be created with the inheritance.

Adding Team members to 'Team Names'. How will hours worked be applied to each member within the team?

If I add resources to a 'Team', how will time and cost be presented in reports?  Ex. 'Team' worked 8hrs on a task and there are 4 team members.  Does that equate to each team member getting credit for 2 hrs or does it just show the 'Team' worked 8 hours, regardless of the people on the team?

What is the best practice for assigning a group of people to a task so that their individual work will be accounted for and applied to reports?

Project Server 2013 : Error saving new site template

I have created the new site template, but I am having issues with it. We did not customize or change any of the default fields, other that adding values to a “choice Field” in the Issue and Risk List.

The template is not saving, and all my google’s point to an issue with customization.

The translation service is running and working.

The other weird thing is that if I deselect “include content” the template saves, but I cannot activate or use the template.

Could you perhaps find time tomorrow to help me look at the issue, might just be something I did, that I shouldn’t have. <u5:p> </u5:p>

Is it possible to delete or hide a task for specific duration only?

Hi Everyone,

I am facing an issue where I need to show a particular task only for a specified duration in MY Task.

Suppose a resource is assigned to a task "abc" from 1 Jan 2016 to 31 Dec 2016,now under my task Resource will have to report time from 1 Jan2016 onwards,now the requirement is the resource should report time only from 1april 2016 i.e for previous 3 months(jan,feb,march) he should not be able to see or fill data .

I am not sure whether it is possible or not.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.


SQL Server 2008 R2 + TLS 1.2

Hi,

I've been attempting to get my SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard to go with the latest PCI requirements however, the MSSQL service stops running as soon as I remove either RC4 or TLS 1.0 encryption protocols. This is running on Windows Server 2012 R2.

Now, I have completed this KB: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/kb/3135244 as well as match up the typical standards for the server itself. A QUALYS test confirms that the protocols are disabled with TLS 1.2 enabled (with matching cipher suites to boot) however I still run into the SQL service not running, even if I inch may way (disable 1 thing at a time), I get the "Connection handshake failed. The client and server cannot communicate, because they do not possess a common algorithm." error every time.

Interestingly enough, I've also tried on a DEV environment upgrading to SQL Server Express 2012 and 2014, and I run into the same issue.

From research, it may have something to do with the .NET Framework (SQL Server 2008 R2 runs v.2.x, whilst 2012/2014 run v.4.x), but that's about as far as I've been able to gather.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Microsoft Project 2016 not syncing resources to SharePoint

After upgrading to Office 2016 (do not know if this have anyting to do With my problem), I notice that only some of the Resources (from ResourceNames) are synced to "Assigned to". When I then Save the Project again the Resources vanish from my Schedule.

If there was some specific Resources - I would understand it - but this happends With to the resoyrces for only some of the actvities and there is not anythng special With them.

If the Interface between MS-Project 2016 Professional and SharePoint is only working from time to time, then I have problems to trust it,

The MS-Project Client and SharePoint (Online365) by itself is working perfectly, the last weeks they do not work anymore. This has been tested on two re-installed PCes and the same error are found on both of them.

Can anyone point to in a direction where the issue may be solved?

Resource Plans not checking in after being published and closed

We have at least one user who, after editing, saving, publishing and closing the resource plan and the subsequent project, has to force check in the Resource Plan because it will not check in after being closed. Anyone come across this?

Lost Dimension selection with migration of OLAP reports from Project Server 2007 to 2013

Hello,

I'm currently helping a customer migrate from Project Server 2007 to Project Server 2013. This customers has a great number of Excel reports based on OLAP cube. We migrated the Project Server and generated a new OLAP cube with identical custom fields, then we tried changing the data source of the Excel files to the new OLAP cube.

However, when we do this, all dimensions selected in the Pivot table (as line, column or filter) are lost. Only measures remain selected correctly. I double checked that we have all custom fields: everything's there and called the same. Yet Excel can only keep track of the measures. Even Pivot tables based on cubes with no custom fields whatsoever, such as "Issues", can't keep track of the dimensions.

I've reproduced this both with Excel 2010 and Excel 2013. The only difference in the structure of the cubes are those introduced by Microsoft (new fields). Is there a solution for this? Or does my customer have to rebuild all their OLAP reports?

Upgrade from Project Server 2010 to 2013

Hello everyone

I was tasked with researching how to upgrade our existing Project Server 2010 to Project Server 2013. Right now, Server 2010 is a stand alone server. 2013 will be installed on all front ends of our Sp2013 farm.

I followed these instructions for Project Server 2013 build. I have it on Server 2008 R2 SP1, and I am running SQL 2008 R2 SP2.

I managed to get the Project Server 2013 up and running. I launched the CA on SP and checked my web applications. Under Manage Content Databases, one of the web applications had two databases. I detached both of them (and I backed up the original database). I overwrote the databases with the databases from the Project Server 2010. Then I mounted both of the databases to the same web application.

Now, that web application has two databases mounted, named ProjectDB and WSS_Content, but I get this error when I try to launch the /pwa site

Enterprise Project Template setup

After 2 days of fighting with it, I've managed to create a template for new MS project files that are either created directly within PWA or are imported via MS Project|Save As (Import Wizard).  Per my instructions, I created a new Enterprise Project from the PWA Project Center, published it, customized it to give it all the desired default discussion threads, news feeds and document libraries, then saved it as a template via Site Settings|Save site as template.  Once this was done, I connected this template to the default Enterprise Project Type in the PWA Settings|Enterprise Project Types menu.

It works like a champ - all new projects that I import have the site built just as I set up in the template.  The problem that I have is that Enterprise project is now showing up as a project in the Project Center.

I am worried that if I delete that Enterprise object (which is what I did to delete all of the failed attempts at importing projects to test my template) that I will lose the template, or that the template will lose connection to key components that it needs to function correctly.  Can anyone tell me what the safest way to clean this up would be?  I'm happy to provide MANY more details than what I've included, but didn't want to start out with an over-kill post.

New projects stuck at 94% when publishing, error 23000(0x59D8)

I'm having issues with publishing new projects in Project 2010. When I create a new project, I can perfectly save it, but when publishing the project, it gets stuck on 94% and returns an error 23000(0x59D8).

Project dissapered after assigning resourse to the summary task

Hi all,

Does anybody know about the issue: I've created project and assigned resourse to the summary task. But after that the Project disappeared on Project Center page.
